Respecting those in Authority, especially in crises!
As I watch the News everyday, I see the leaders struggle for affirmation and approval in the eyes of the people, all while trying to hold on to the little strength and dignity they have.
I have seen them beat down so much by people who say they represent the right side of the fence. And to see Christians that support ungodly behavior as if it was good.
What message are we teaching the younger generation?
A generation that honors God will be established. Are we setting them up or success or failure? Luke 1:50
I believe that Christians are to be the light of the world. We are to show in our behavior the standard God has set for the world.
In Romans 13:1 states, ”Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”
Looking at how our leaders are treated, America doesn’t have respect for it’s leadership.
I see how there is no honor. Yes, they may not be right, but that is why we as Christian are to pray for our leaders and treat them with the respect they may or may not deserve.
A nation divided cannot stand. We need a unified front if things are to get done. We don’t succeed if we implode as a nation.
How do we support those in authority and honor God?
Prayer changes things!
Praying for those in authority helps those leaders to hear from God and get his wisdom to lead. Even the ungodly can be led by God. We sometimes don’t understand God’s logic in the leaders he chooses but we have to trust his judgement. He knows best and He works everything together for the good of those who love him and he truly has the whole world in His hands.
Give honor to whom honor is due.
It is such a strange sight to see how those who profess to be so righteous be so disrespectful. They judge (condemn) the leadership, rail insults and cut them down at every turn not realizing that those who are in authority have a price to pay for how they rule in the office they’re in before God. As Christians we are to love one another as God has loved us. Whether the leader is a believer or not. God loves them too, and wants them to be saved. Just as God draws us with his love we are to draw the ungodly with godly love we share.
God has given salvation to the whole world through Jesus. It really should encourage us even more during this time to shine for Jesus and be a witness.
Remember God has raised our leadership up for such a time as this. They may boast and get caught up in the power, but eventually they will have to acknowledge God’s power and humble themselves under his mighty hand. And just maybe we gain a Christian brother or sister into the kingdom.
So my encouragement today as a Christian in the world of godly and ungodly leaders is to, Love, honor and respect! You be the light in this dark world.
